Why Ethnicity Matters
There is a perception in the dominant culture of North American Christianity today that ethnicity is no longer important to believers. The idea is that because we are children of God we are all called to be colorblind. In Destino, we couldn’t disagree with this more.
Ethnicity is something to be embraced. – James Choung
Intervarsity and James Choung have produced an outstanding video on why ethnicity matters.
We need places to focus. We need places to integrate. Both are good. Both are Biblical. – James Choung
Because ethnicity matters, it means that we need ministries that focus on ethnic-specific contexts. We need ministries like Destino that seeks to live out the Christian life through Latino values. We need movements like Epic that seek to live it through Asian-American values. We need places that focus and we need places that bring us all together.
Ethnicity matters.
