Cross-Cultural Training: Cultural Values

One of the biggest needs someone has when communicating the gospel cross-culturally is adapting the message so that it can be understood by the audience. To truly adapt the message you must begin to understand the cultural differences that exist between communities.

In a recent staff meeting we covered Part 2 of our Cross-Cultural Training: Cultural Values. The goal was to give us common vocabulary to use as we talk through cultural differences. How can we truly adapt the gospel if we don’t know what possible differences exist?

I encourage you to watch the video below and then discuss with your staff or student ministry teams.

Discussion Questions:

  • How would you describe your own culture?
  • How would you describe the culture of the people you are trying to minister to/with?
